Hello Yellow Brick Road

The Royal Room, 5000 Rainier Ave South, Seattle, WA

This show will be a (reasonably) faithful reading of Elton John's legendary album, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," plus a few special encore songs to close the night. Just like the album itself, there will be two sets with a brief intermission between album one and album two. Vocalist/guitarist Patrick R. Porter describes the inspiration for this show: “I was four years old in 1973, and one night my parents were about to leave me with a babysitter and go out for the evening. When the babysitter showed up, she had a fresh copy of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road still wrapped in the original cellophane. She was bringing it to play on my dad’s enormous stereo, which dominated the small living room at our house in Skyway. Dad saw an opportunity, and he postponed the plans he had for the evening so he could get a fresh recording of the album on his reel-to-reel tape recorder, literally the first time that the vinyl record was ever played. Thus the true story: I fell in love with this album because my dad bootlegged it from my babysitter.”
